They say when you marry someone you are essentially marrying their whole family so do take that into account when meeting your future in-laws! A Taiwanese girl recently shared the experience of meeting her boyfriend’s parents because they wanted to discuss their upcoming wedding.

She posted on Dcard, a popular forum in Taiwan and related her encounter, which ultimately caused the couple to break up in the end. In her post, she said that she saw someone complaining about their boyfriend’s mother so she wanted to share her encounter as well.
The couple was planning their wedding and wanted both sets of parents to sit down and meet each other properly. However, her future mother-in-law seems to be very concerned about several things that should remain private and kept asking her questions.

She said that whenever her boyfriend’s mother saw her, she would keep asking whether she was a virgin or not even though she had told the mother that it was a private matter. That said, she puts up with her because she loves her boyfriend.
“My boyfriend doesn’t come from a very well-to-do family background but he always feels like he is a great catch. His mother is also very concerned about what I can ‘contribute’ to his family and she was extremely interested in my virginity. In fact, she even wanted to bring me to a doctor to get tested for any sexually transmitted diseases and also to verify my virginity,” she wrote.
“Although I am a virgin and do not have any diseases, I felt that this was none of her business and politely told her so. On that day where our parents were meeting each other, she asked me about my virginity so many times that even my parents felt awkward.”

That was when her patience reached the breaking point and she told her boyfriend’s mother, “If you want a virgin then please go to the kindergarten to look for one! You think your son is very good but actually, he’s ugly, poor and has no future yet you still have so many demands.”
“You want a daughter-in-law who is 160cm tall, weighs lesser than 40kg, smart and with a good education as well as a dowry that consist of a house and a nice car. Please look in the mirror first before making such unreasonable demands. You can’t depend on your son to get you this, he’s been a loser his whole life and will probably be relying on you until he’s old.”

This dowry is defined as the wealth transferred from the bride’s family to the groom or his family, ostensibly for the bride. Which means the bride’s family must cough up the money to buy these things! The girl’s parents saw that their daughter was getting really angry so they quickly took her home after that outburst. When she reached home, she tried to contact her boyfriend but discovered that he had already blocked her.
She ended her post by laughing and cursing, while other netizens who saw it sympathised with her plight. Some of them said that if the boy’s family wanted a house and car, perhaps she could burn the paper ones for them instead. A few others agreed that she should break it off otherwise if she married him she wouldn’t be happy; plus, the guy’s family was simply too demanding.
Since both of them felt that they are not suitable for each other, it’s good that they managed to find that out before they tied the knot!
