“No matter how good you are, you can always get better—and that’s the exciting part.” —Tiger Woods

Regardless of our achievements, there is always room for improvement. If the greatest golfer in history is still on his quest for self-improvement, there’s really no reason for us to stop bettering ourselves!

In fact, bettering ourselves benefits all aspects of our lives, from interpersonal relationships to career prosperity and health! Wanna be the best version of yourself? Start with these applaudable acts and flex your bravery every single day!

1. Celebrate failures

Living in a culture that worships success, failure is something we frown upon. While it is normal to feel upset and demotivated in the face of failure, it’s also vital to view defeat as a learning opportunity!

Reflect on your process of chasing success by validating the right moves, identifying missed opportunities, and addressing mistakes. While doing so, you’re already celebrating the silver lining behind every failure—making progress! ?

2. Put yourself first

How many times have you said “yes” against your will? Whether it’s chipping in for a gift that’s beyond your budget, or showing up at a wedding that you’re too tired to attend, you’re prioritising others at the expense of your well-being!

Setting healthy boundaries is crucial in protecting your mental health. ? Having trouble saying “no”? Use the following frameworks to phrase your response:

  • Show gratitude (e.g. “I’m so touched that you thought of me!”)
  • Respond to the request (e.g. “I’m afraid I can’t make it.”)
  • Explain your reasoning (e.g. “I’ll be away until August.”)

3. Call out injustice

From racism to gender inequalities, injustice takes on many forms and can happen anywhere. ? While it can be easier to look away and avoid conflicts, injustice will persist until we uphold the courage to stand for righteousness.

Of course, calling out injustice does not necessarily mean starting an argument! Whether you’re speaking up for yourself or others, make sure to strike up an open conversation that welcomes constructive criticism and avoids shaming

4. Own your mistakes

Contrary to popular belief, admitting your mistakes is not an embarrassing act. In fact, doing so allows you to demonstrate accountability and integrity! ?

Apologizing is the first step in taking accountability for your mistakes. However, a proper apology does not only comprise the word “sorry”. Here’s how to phrase an effective apology:

  • Express remorse (e.g. “I’m sorry.”)
  • Identify your mistakes and their consequences (e.g. “I shouldn’t have lashed out at you, I must’ve hurt you badly.”)
  • Propose a solution (e.g. “I will learn to manage my anger.”)

5. Take a leap of faith

It is normal to be afraid of uncertainty and unfamiliarity. But when you take a leap of faith and dive into the unknown, you’re opening the doors to greater achievements that can be extremely rewarding!

It’s never too late to dream BIG. Have a real passion for photography? Build a career out of your hobby! Wish to run an IG-worthy cafe? Go get that bread! Life is too short to be afraid of trying—chase your biggest dreams and leave no regrets!?
