Batang Kali Landslide’s Last Victim Found, M’sians Thank SAR Team & Everyone Who Helped

The body of the last Batang Kali’s landslide victim has been found and taken out yesterday (24 December 2022) at approximately 5pm. He was the 31st victim of the landslide tragedy.

According to Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Suffian Abdullah, the body was found inside a sleeping bag. He also told reporters that the victim was fully clothed but the body has started to decompose when discovered.

In a Facebook statement, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) stated that the operation that started as early as 7.30 am was concentrated in Sector A (Hillview) with various assets from related agencies. That includes the PDRM and involved 10 tracking dogs (K9) and excavators to facilitate the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

PDRM also expressed gratitude to all the agencies involved in successfully finding all missing victims. “Not forgetting the undivided prayers and support from Malaysians to the safety personnel on duty throughout the search period,” the statement adds.

Following the statement, the comments section is flooded with Malaysians thanking the SAR team, the tracking dogs, and everyone who helped. Photos of the last victim, Eng Shao Qi’s spiderman backpack have also upset a lot of Malaysians.

RIP to all the victims of the Batang Kali landslide.
