Desperate times call for desperate measures.
A banquet hall in Seremban couldn’t bear to retrench their staff who have been with them for the past decade, so instead they decided to sell chicken rice (& other protein rice also) in the afternoons.
This little stall officially opened on 10th June right outside the banquet hall to make sure that people coming to tapau will have the utmost convenience. Due to their location, most of their workers need to brave the heat and the scorching sun.
The chicken, roasted pork (siew yoke) and char siew were all prepared by highly-skilled banquet chefs. In order to add more variation to their items sold, they also prepare nasi lemak and sticky rice dumplings (zongzi) in conjunction with the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival.
In an interview with Sin Chew Daily, the managing director of the restaurant said that the shareholders suggested retrenching the employees to cut cost. However, the managing director said that he could not do it as the staff have been with him for almost a decade now and he just didn’t have the heart to abandon them like that.
So he came up with this plan and the reception has been great! He mentioned that the stall and restaurant businesses have been gradually increasing. According to a few netizens, the food sold is of high quality and is compatible with the price you pay. So if you’re from Negeri Sembilan, go support them by buying a packet or two!
It is not only this restaurant but most businesses out there right now are struggling and many have lost the battle. So, please support your local chicken rice shop, mini market or any local shops near you! #KitaJagaKita
