Of all the feelings in the world, shocking and sad would be the most appropriate ones for this situation! *internally cries*
It’s time to say our goodbyes to Chatuchak Green night market or better known as JJ Green. Vendors would no longer be found at this famous night market after 13 September.
The Bangkok Gov. Aswin Kwanmuang said all vendors will need to quit the property by Sept 12 as it marks the end of the market’s lease contract. This is a result of the market operator, V Multimedia Company Ltd’s failure to pay rent, causing The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to terminate the market’s contract.

Considering how Chatuchak Green night market had operated as one of Bangkok’s must visit places and lovely evening hangout spot, the area will now be redeveloped as one of the mega public park.
With 3.1 hectares of land, this area will be returned to the Queen Sirikit Park Foundation for construction of a much larger park which will combine Wachirabenchathat Park (Suan Rodfai), Queen Sirikit Park and Chatuchak Park. The three parks combined will stretch over 727 rais (116 hectares).

Located on Kamphaeng Phet 3 Road, this colourful, busy market started off in 2012 and opens at night from Friday through Sunday. It became famous for its chilled out, bohemian vibes and vast selection of fashionable vintage clothes followed by rows of retro bars which played live music and street food stalls. Its fame comes from holding over 200 shops and a parking lot to accommodate over 600 vehicles! Super cool, right?
