United States (US) President Donald Trump left Malaysia on Monday (27 October), but as of Wednesday (29 October), it’s safe to say that Trump has still not ‘moved on’ from Malaysia.
In South Korea, he spoke of the greatness of Malaysia and its Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“The Prime Minister of Malaysia is a great guy”
Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in South Korea on Wednesday, Trump highlighted the regional peace while talking about the Kuala Lumpur Peace Agreement (Kuala Lumpur Accord) between Thailand and Cambodia.
The US President said that Malaysia excelled as a mediator between the two countries, especially after Trump had called Cambodia and Thailand back and forth.
“We used a beautiful facility in Malaysia. Malaysia was fantastic, and the Prime Minister is great. A great guy.”

What Trump did during his official visit to Malaysia
On Sunday (26 October), Trump made his maiden visit to Malaysia to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related conferences held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, where a historical event took place.
Trump and Anwar witnessed the signing of the Kuala Lumpur Accord between Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
The signing ended the dispute between the two neighbouring countries, which had been going on for decades. According to Trump, the signing saw both countries “coming together like best friends,” which he dubbed “a beautiful thing to see.”
“Two leaders met, and they were like good friends. It was a very beautiful moment. We saved, you know, probably millions of lives. We think this is going to be everlasting, hopefully.”
“Same thing in the Middle East, we hope it’s going to be everlasting peace,” Trump said at the APEC, as shared via a live feed on the White House’s social media.

Trump also held a bilateral meeting with Anwar, where both leaders signed the Malaysia-US Reciprocal Trade Agreement and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which aims to strengthen cooperation in the fields of technology, energy, and key minerals.
In South Korea, the White House also reported that Trump has secured billions in landmark deals.
What do you think of Trump’s take on this matter?
