On Friday, 20 September, the video of a man smashing the windshield of a van was shared by Facebook page 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians.
The video, believed to be taken by the victim in the van, took place at a junction in Gombak.
Here is the video of the incident.
Clearly angry, the motorcyclist was seen brandishing a long stick asking the driver to step out of his vehicle.
Not entirely understanding why the motorcyclist was so enraged at the driver, bystanders seemed unfazed by the incident and not even attempted to calm the man down, probably in fear of retribution.
In his narrative, the driver could have been at fault, to begin with mentioning that he has apologized to the motorcycle for an incident that probably took place before the video.
Clearly not accepting his apology, that’s when the road rage ensued.
The video, which has witnessed more than 35k views, saw netizens urging both involved in the video to simply go to the police station instead of succumbing to road rage.
One netizen commented saying that the biker is wrong for his outburst but the van is also equally guilty for attempting to jump the queue at the traffic light, witnessed from the position of his van in the video.
For whatever the reason, as Malaysians we should not succumb to violence and let the authorities take charge.
We hope that incidences like this will not be a mainstay amongst Malaysians, but instead be a lesson for all of us to become more patient and practice tolerance on the road.
