A lot of evidence has come to light regarding the case of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH). It was also reported that Perlis became the first state to declare GISBH’s teachings as un-Islamic and deviant.
During a live conference, the daughter of Haji Ashaari Mohammad, better known as Abuya, broke her silence, claiming that GISBH members do not follow the teachings of her late father’s deviant cult.
Practices of “Aurad Muhammadiyah”
Khaulah Ashaari pointed out that GISBH is just a business and not a religious group following the “Aurad Muhammadiyah” ideology of cult leader Abuya.
She also said that GISBH stays clear of any teachings that have been labelled as deviant or wrong and that they’ve gone through courses set by the authorities, including the religious department.
“We follow the syllabus set by JAIS”
Khaulah explained that GISBH and its other entities are being monitored by religious authorities to make sure they don’t slip back into any deviant teachings or practices.
She also mentioned that the schools run by GISBH in Selangor follow the syllabus set by JAIS, so their teachings stay in line with the guidelines from the state’s religious department.
“The video was made a long time ago, but it’s only just resurfacing now”
Khaulah suggested that any deviant teachings within GISBH might just be isolated cases, admitting that she couldn’t rule out the possibility of small groups still following the banned religious teachings.
At the press conference, she also tried to downplay the importance of the “Power Kaabah” song, which is linked to GISBH, saying it was made a long time ago. The song is used to show how GISBH’s religious beliefs were seen as deviant.
“I can’t say much more because the video is still under investigation. We’re fully cooperating with the authorities throughout the process,” she added.
