Just yesterday (3 January), TM Group took to its social media platforms to inform users of another cable damage.
According to their announcement, the affected cable is “a key landing site for internet traffic coming from Sabah and Sarawak via submarine cable into TM’s central network.”
The cable cut was detected in Cherating towards Alor Akar, where Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) construction work was being carried out at the time.

News of this cable cut comes just a few months after TM was widely criticised for its service disruption due to cable cuts by third-party contractors in November. They were widely criticised by both the public and the government due to the frequent inconveniences TM’s customers have faced. The government even warned the internet service provider that regulatory action would be taken if these inconveniences continued.
Hopefully, this current issue is resolved swiftly!
