We’ve heard many horror stories of luggage going missing or getting stolen at airports.

It seems that the ever-creative people of China have devised a novel way to deter luggage theft.

It’s pretty simple, just stick posters of door Gods (门神) on the luggage.

No Luggage Theft

Traditionally, posters of door Gods are posted on the main entrance of homes to ward off evil. The posters have illustrations of the Gods that are intricately drawn with swords and stern expressions on their faces.

It is said that the luggage owner received many thumbs-ups from the other passengers in the airport, and many of them took pictures of it as well.

According to the SinChew Daily and China Press, the main idea is to incite fear.

“I heard that if you decorate your luggage like this when you go abroad, it will be less likely to be ‘disturbed’/stolen. Even foreigners will be scared when they see it!”

Others also used printed talismans and pasted them on their luggage, while some preferred to print memos in different languages accompanied by a picture of a woman dressed in traditional garb.

All of these are usually wrapped with layers of cling wrap to protect the bags.

Well, these are certainly creative! What is your take on this? Do you have any other tips? Let us know in the comments.
