Promises are oaths that some people take lightly but not this little boy!
In a Facebook post, a father told a story about how his son fulfilled a promise between he made with his late mother.
From 18th August till 20th August, little Tzuo Ze Gang hiked up the highest mountain in Taiwan, The Jade Mountain, which is 3952 metres above sea level. This mountain is also the 4th highest maximum elevation of any island in the world! Such a big feat for a small boy!
According to Mr. Tzuo, his wife once told their son a story about the Jade Mountain when he was 4 years old. At that time, they made a promise to climb it together. Unfortunately, a year later, she had surgery on her leg and she wasn’t able to fulfill their promise. Instead, she told him to bring some of her belongings along when he goes out to see the world.
Last year, she passed on, leaving behind her husband and 2 sons. The little boy grieved but he never forgot about his promise to his dearest mummy.
To help his son achieve his goal, he gave his son motivation by saying:
“Yu Shan is the highest point in Taiwan, I’m sure we’ll be closer to mummy there.”
The trek was not easy and the boy was accompanied by his father and two close family friends. Throughout the whole journey, he got a lot of headaches, was breathless and felt very nauseous most of the time, probably due to altitude sickness. He managed to pull through and conquered the Jade Mountain.
Just as he reached the top, he took out his mother’s portrait from his little backpack and screamed at the top of his lungs:
“Mummy, we reached the top! I carried you to the the top of Jade Mountain!”
591 days after his mother passed away, he fulfilled their promise.
Good job little Tzuo! We’re sure that if mummy was there, she’d be very, very proud! Grow up big and strong, little Tzuo!
