The incident occurred on Jalan Tok Guru, and the adoptive daughter, Norhaeda Azahari, received a call around 6 PM informing her of the fire while she was away in Pengkalan Chepa for work.
The 51-year-old expressed her grief after learning that her adoptive mother, Fatimah Mat Said, was unable to escape the flames, according to Guang Ming Daily.
“I’m still in shock over this incident because I lost both my loved one and all my pets in the blink of an eye,” she said.

Norhaeda also explained that her adoptive mother was frail and had poor eyesight, although she was still able to walk.
“The 70 cats I kept in cages were burnt alive. The five stray dogs that I often fed and who roamed around the house also died,” she told Sinar Harian.
Fatimah’s body was recovered by police and fire department personnel around 8:39 PM, after the blaze was successfully brought under control.
