Dogs are men’s best friends. If something happens to them, or any of our pets, we’ll give it all to ensure their safety. An elderly in Bentong, Pahang did his best to prevent his dog from being captured by the city council but at the cost of his life.
The incident happened around 5 pm yesterday (24 May) when the 85-year-old man realised that his pet dog of many years was being captured by officers deployed by the City Council. The elderly, Huang, immediately rushed out to stop the dog catchers from taking his dog away. They were using a catchpole to restrain the dog, and Huang did his very best to hold on to it and he wouldn’t let go.
Sadly, his attempt ended in tragedy. Huang collapsed during the struggle and fell into the drain.
Huang’s neighbor witnessed the whole incident, and he tried to ask the dog catchers to let go of the catchpole but to no avail.
“I was so worried. I asked them to stop but they wouldn’t listen. Huang continued to struggle before he suddenly collapsed and fell into the drain,” the neighbour said.
From the moment Huang rushed out to rescue his dogs until his collapse, everything happened within 3 minutes.
Huang’s neighbour immediately called the ambulance, and the medical officers officially pronounced his death at the scene.
“The dog was late Huang’s companion”
According to a report by Sin Chew, the neighbor said that the recently-departed Huang stayed alone as his sons and daughters are working in KL.
“The dog was his companion here, and he always spent his time at the restaurant nearby. Other neighbours are also saddened by his death.”
At the time of writing (25 May), the Bentong City Council has yet to respond to the matter.
Rest in peace, Huang. We hope that the relevant parties will soon release a statement regarding this matter.
