Most people would retire by the time they’re in their mid to late-fifties. But for some, their jobs are their purpose and passion in life and that can be a bit difficult to let go.

Kuan Chee Heng, who is more affectionately known as Uncle Kentang, took to his Facebook page to share his encounter with an 84-year-old fruit seller in Puchong, who has kept his business going despite his children’s success because he loves providing his customers with quality fruits!

Uncle Kentang wrote, “He is 84-years-old. His wife is 74-years-old. I was a bit surprised yesterday. I sent my son to the LRT station and as I was navigating home, I was surprised to see that the fruit seller’s lorry was open.”

“He has 2 children and both are successful. They all can fend for themselves. Yet, he continues to sell his fruits.”

Uncle Kentang also added that the fruit seller starts his business as early as 7am!

What makes this fruit seller extra special is that he has ensured that he gets only the best quality fruits to sell to his customers.

“He told me his papayas and chiku are one of the best. He told me his suppliers would reserve the best fruits for him. He has built that trust for over 31 years. He has never owed his supplier,”

“He is 84 years old and free of illnesses. God has granted him a healthy body. Yet, he refuses to rest. (This is) his passion. To bring good quality fruits to his customers. He was beaming with pride because of the quality of his fruits. Bravo, sir,” Uncle Kentang added.

Should you want to buy this elderly man’s high-quality fruits, you can find him in front of the McDonald’s in Puchong Perdana from 7am to 1pm.

We genuinely hope we have the same energy he does when we are his age!
