This is sad!
According to Free Malaysia Today, police have now rescued a 7-year-old girl who was locked inside a house in Taman Hijrah, Perlis since last Wednesday (February 27). OMG!
It was reported that 7-year-old Nur Aleesya Zara Abdullah was believed to have been abandoned in the house by her 31-year-old mother Norhazwani Mazlan, who is also a divorcee, according to Perlis Police Chief Noor Mushar Mohamad.
Noor Mushar said the discovery of the child was followed by a report made by an employee of the Social Welfare Department Kangar who got notified by one of the residents living in the area at around 8pm on Monday (March 4), as reported in FMT.
He added that police were sent to the scene immediately to cut the lock off the door to rescue the girl who was trapped inside the house.
In a media statement made via WhatsApp, Noor Mushar said that the resident who notified the Social Welfare Department along with other neighbours in the area gave food to the little girl through a window since the day she was locked inside the house.
The girl was later sent to receive treatment at the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF), and the medical examination revealed that she did not sustain any injuries but is still being kept in the pediatric ward for monitoring.
The young girl will be placed in a home in the Jalan Derma Kangar School under the supervision of JKM Perlis once she is discharged from the hospital.
Meanwhile, the mother of the child is detained at Kampung Surau, Utan Aji, Kangar by the police to conduct further investigations. As for now, the case is being investigated under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001.
We hope this case can be thoroughly investigated and the authorities make the child’s best interest a priority during investigations.
