Sree Abiraame has already taken the ice skating scene by storm with her impressive talent earlier this year. She dominated her category in Bangkok by taking home four golds, one silver and one bronze medal.
At the recent ISI Asia Skate Shenzhen 2018 Championships in China which was held from Dec 1 to 2, Sree again managed to bring Malaysia glory by bagging 4 gold medals. Wow, amazing!
She won gold in the speed racing, freestyle 1, solo competition freestyle and artistic freestyle for the under seven categories. She defeated every athlete from China as well as Hong Kong.
When asked by The Star, Sree mentioned that her goal is to win all the categories that she will be competing in the future. She added,
“I can do better. I won four gold medals in China and four in Bangkok.”
Sree was introduced to the sport at the tender age of three and she has already set her sight on becoming an Olympic champion just like her idol Yuna Kim, a South Korean figure skater.
Her father, B. Chendren, explained that Sree is a fast learner. However, she suffered an injury that almost ended her career in 2015. He elaborated,
“But she came back strongly and in 2017, she participated in several championships. That’s when we knew she was serious about the sport. As parents, we will motivate her to do something that she is passionate about.”
In a Facebook post, Sree thanked all the Malaysians who have been supporting her. She said,
“I hope all Malaysians will be with me as I prepare myself to bring back glory and gold for Malaysia at the Winter Olympics in 2026.”
Congratulations, Sree from all of us. We know greatness awaits you in the future and we are with you every step of the way!
