An elderly man with disabilities (OKU) has set a record for being the oldest person to climb 100 floors of stairs at Menara MBPJ.
The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) took to their Facebook page to announce this milestone, which took place during their MBPJ Tower Stair Climbing Clinic Programme.

The council wrote: “One participant, 78-year-old Michael Tan, who is visually impaired, successfully completed the 100-storey climb (climbing 25 floors four times), thus setting a record as the oldest individual to reach 100 floors at Menara MBPJ.”
“Having lost his sight at the age of 27, he has now proven that his spirit and mental strength can overcome all physical limitations. This feat is not just a fitness achievement, but also a symbol of inspiration to the entire community.”
An impressive line-up of participants

MBPJ also highlighted that the event’s participants included several health professionals. Among them were 60-year-old Dr Ravi Venkatachalam, 72-year-old Dr Jaswant, and 61-year-old Dr Gnanamalar.
Special mention was made of 72-year-old Dr Mahendran, who has climbed 100 floors more than 34 times and holds a personal record of 250 floors in a single session.
“The MBPJ Tower Stair Climbing Clinic Programme continues to receive positive feedback and serves as an excellent platform for promoting a healthy lifestyle within the community,” the council added.
