An elderly man tragically died after he was hit by a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) while taking pictures of an earlier accident at kilometre (KM) 14, Lebuhraya Iskandar Sultan in Johor Bahru.
Johor Bahru North Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh, said the accident happened around 6:40 AM, involving an MPV and the 68-year-old local man.

The MPV swerved to avoid an SUV
At the time of the incident, a 40-year-old local driver of an MPV, heading from Prisma Road towards Johor Bahru, swerved to avoid an SUV that had crashed into the concrete road divider.
In the process, the MPV hit the 68-year-old man who was taking photos of the earlier crash. The man suffered severe head injuries and passed away while receiving treatment.
“As a result, the MPV lost control and hit the elderly man. The victim suffered serious head injuries and was confirmed dead while being treated at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), while the driver got injuries to his head, face, left hand, and leg.”

Balveer mentioned that the incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 for causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving.
