A 53-year-old man was found dead at a university in Perak after reportedly becoming trapped in a storage room at a sports facility earlier today (7 April).
Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) confirmed in a statement that the deceased was Mohd Radzi bin Ariffin, an employee of a private company operating at the UPSI Bowling Arena.

Emergency response and discovery
According to Berita Harian, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), said they received an emergency call from the police at 1:57 AM asking for help to open the locked storage room.
“A team from the Tanjung Malim Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched, travelling about 9 km and arriving at the scene at 2:07 AM. By the time we got there, the storage room had already been opened with the help of UPSI police,” he said.
He added that the victim was confirmed dead at the scene by personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia.

The university said the victim’s body has been sent to Slim River Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
“UPSI will help the family with funeral arrangements once the process is completed. Al-Fatihah for the deceased, and our deepest condolences to the family,” the statement read.
