Looking for the next most exciting event in KL? You’re in luck, because something special is coming to The Exchange TRX this April, adding to the usual cafe catch-ups, retail runs, and lively dinners in the Dining Precinct!
Weekends in KL are about to get livelier with The Exchange TRX Arts & Music Festival from 10 April to 3 May!
For four consecutive weekends, The Exchange TRX is transforming their Market Lane into a living cultural district with rotating curated markets each week, live performances, and even some workshops to help you bring home some handiwork.
Don’t miss out on these experiences, which are worth planning your weekend around! 👇
1. Rotating markets for something different throughout the festival period 🛍️

The festival has invited two established local market brands to curate their own weekends. This means the vendors (and their vibes) will change depending on when you visit:
- Weekends 1 & 2: Music, fashion, and lifestyle-driven market experiences curated by The Messy Club, which will bring a diverse mix of fashion, lifestyle, F&B, and creative brands. They also often integrate live music, DJ sets, and experiential elements into their markets, making the music bleed exceptionally into the shopping experience. Coming soon to Market Lane will also be Tony’s New York Pizza, and you can catch a first taste at their pop-up throughout all weekends.
- Weekends 3 & 4: Art-forward, community-led market experiences by Outlet KL, who are known for hosting art-focused markets that platform local artists, illustrators, independent creators, and creative communities. This brand is perfect for those who are passionately into visual arts, prints, handmade goods, and community-driven activations.

2. Music on the main stage and beyond 🎶

The arts don’t just come in visual form; the festival is jam-packed with musicians, dancers, instrumentalists, DJs, and genre-crossing local acts on its Main Stage, including:
- The Impatient Sisters
- Rudeen
- Peot
- Axeljonas
- Bunga
- Nu Rulez
- Viona
- Malaygirldigital

But it doesn’t stop there; unlike most festivals that contain their performances to a single stage, this one scatters them throughout the event with Satellite Performances — small-scale, roving, or semi-static live acts positioned at welcome halls, MRT entrances, and transitional walkways.
Plus, the event will also feature a Cultural Dance Parade, a roaming live performance that brings Malaysia’s diverse dance traditions into motion across the festival grounds.
3. Get in on the art activities with the various workshops 🎨

From children and youth to artsy adults, all are welcome to take part in hands-on workshops with activities that are visually engaging and useful. Upgrade yourself from festival spectator to participant with these various activities:
- Print Making: Create festival-exclusive patterns inspired by Malaysian motifs, which you can print onto tote bags or posters.
- Bead Bar: An open-access bead bar for you to design and assemble necklaces, bracelets, or keychains from a selection of beads and charms.
- Fan Painting: Personalise your own paper fans through painting and illustration, with inspiration ranging from nature, culture, music, or abstract patterns.
4. Interactive installations to serve as your next photo op 🖼️

Stationed around the festival grounds is a series of interactive structures that serve as visual landmarks, performance backdrops, and photo-worthy moments!
Marvel at Totem Archways, thoughtfully designed with bold colours and layered textures as you walk through them, or the Giant Boombox Printed Structure, which houses a DJ console during sets and becomes a playful photo backdrop during off-hours. All in all, your next IG-worthy spot is just one head’s turn away at this festival!
But photos aren’t the only proof you’ve been somewhere. Check out Faces of Malaysia, where you can feel free to draw in eyes, noses, mouths, and expressions on this installation featuring multi-coloured faces with missing features! Here, you’ll be putting your own interpretation of Malaysian faces on full display. Be ready to spend a lot of time here, especially if you bring children!
5. Eat, drink, and get rewarded at TRX 🍹
A festival of this scale is sure to work up an appetite, and nearby tenants and partners can make you quench your hunger and thirst in a rewarding way! Take advantage of these Buy 1 Free 1 promotions (a few out of many, check out @trx.eats for full list of offers!) running throughout the event that make grabbing a bite (or a cocktail) feel like a small win:
