Time and time again, the Health Ministry has warned Malaysians that they will see a spike in Covid-19 cases if the public continues to ignore Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), despite Malaysia seeing a low number of active cases in recent times.

Apparently falling on deaf ears, here is a scene recorded in a Sitiawan supermarket, amidst celebrations looming early next month.

According to eye witness reports, the mayhem was triggered when the local supermarket announced special deals on soft drinks that particular day.

Unimpressed with what they saw, netizens commenting on the video shared their disgust at the apparent attitude of some Malaysians who are willing to risk it all just for a good deal.

“This should not happen. The supermarket has failed in controlling their customers at this point in time.”

“It is simply unfair for the authorities to only target small business owners, when big businesses are also guilty of breaching SOPs on premise.”

Let’s hope that the authorities will investigate this matter and ensure that those responsible are met with heavy fines and deter others from doing the same thing.
