The whole of Malaysia will finally be under Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) next week as Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein announced yesterday that Sarawak and Kelantan will transition into the final phase of NRP on Monday (3 January 2022). As reported by The Star, this was after the latest risk assessment carried out by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and National Security Council (MKN) agreed that both states have met all the threshold to move up into Phase 4.
The Defence Minister commented,
“This means that all states in Malaysia will have moved to Phase Four of the NRP. I would like to express my deepest appreciation and congratulations to all parties, especially the state governments, who have been working hard to manage the pandemic… In order to meet the threshold value set under the NRP,”
Furthermore, Hishammuddin further elaborated that all the SOPs for states entering Phase 4 of NRP would remain the same as before and that the rakyat can access the information on Covid-19 SOPs through MKN on its official website.
However, despite the whole of Malaysia successfully entering the final phase of NRP, the Defence Minister urges people to remain vigilant as the battle against Covid-19 is still ongoing. He said that Malaysians must not let their guard down and get too comfortable as Covid-19 remains a safety and health threat, especially with new variants such as Delta and Omicron.
