A 47-year-old Malaysian man who lives in Singapore was recently charged after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter and showing her pornographic videos at her home, according to Oriental Daily.
The suspect was able to enter the house as his mother had quite a close relationship with the victim’s mother. He even had a set of keys to their house as the girl’s mother gave his mother a set of keys to her home so she could help to receive letters for them.
Back in 2015 when the girl’s father was abroad for nine months, she would often go to the suspect’s house with her mother for a meal. Sometimes she would even go alone to eat snacks and play games with her mother’s permission, and would play games on a tablet in the suspect’s room. There were even times when she would be alone with the suspect.

In September 2017, the girl’s father asked the suspect to go over to his house to help repair the water heater. When they were done, the suspect went home while the girl’s father went to work. But the suspect went back to the house and entered the girl’s room.
He showed her child pornography photos and a video of a man having sex with a girl, and then sexually assaulted her. The girl resisted him and tried to push him out the door, but he kept begging her and said “please”. The girl allowed him to return to the room after which the suspect pulled off her underwear.
However, the girl pulled her underwear back on and went to complain to her mother that the suspect had not repaired the water heater. At this point, the suspect left the house.

The suspect’s actions were not revealed to anyone until he repeated the offence three months later on 1st December 2017. On that day, the girl told the suspect that he could come over to her house. The suspect immediately made an excuse to get rid of his wife and rode a motorcycle all the way from Marina Bay Sands to the girl’s house.
He used the keys to open the door and followed the girl into her parents’ room. The girl then used the computer to search the Internet for “sex videos” and watched them with the suspect. The man then stripped off both their clothes and sexually assaulted her as well as showed her a pornographic cartoon video.
It wasn’t revealed what happened after, but a few days later, the girl repeatedly asked her mother to take back the keys she gave to her neighbour. The girl then admitted to her mother what the suspect had done to her.

The girl’s mother questioned the suspect on 6th December, but he denied his actions. However, when the two families talked that night, the suspect finally admitted his actions, after which the girl’s mother called the police.
The suspect, who was originally charged with attempted rape, pleaded guilty in court on 10th September to two charges of using brute force and attempting to sexually assault the girl.
Two other charges of showing child pornography will be considered on 12th September, while eight charges will be dropped. Each of the two offences admitted by the suspect is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and a fine or a whip, or both.
