A 45-year-old woman from the United States (US) hit it big in the Powerball draw on 6 September, matching four white balls and the Powerball.
Tammy Carvey from Wyandotte, Michigan, said she asked ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot, to pick her Powerball numbers, which ended up winning her USD100,000 (~RM422,350).

Tammy said she initially thought she had only won USD50,000 (~RM211,175), which was the prize amount before the Power Play multiplier was applied, as reported by NBC Chicago.
“I asked ChatGPT for a set of Powerball numbers, and those were the ones I used on my ticket,” she said.
According to WLNS, Tammy told the Michigan Lottery that she plans to use her winnings to pay off her house and save the rest.
“I usually only play Powerball when the jackpot gets really high, and since it was over USD1 billion, I decided to buy a ticket. It wasn’t until I logged into my Michigan Lottery account that I realised I had added the Power Play and actually won USD100,000. My husband and I couldn’t believe it,” she said.

NBC Chicago also reported that Powerball is available in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
The Michigan Lottery reminded players that “lottery draw results are entirely random and cannot be predicted using artificial intelligence or any number-generating tools.”
