It looks like 40 really is the new 20!
Ms Laura Lee, a 44-year-old grandmother of five kids, was named the first runner-up at this year’s Mrs Singapore & Classic Mrs Singapore Pageant. She will also be representing her country in the Mrs Tourism Queen International Pageant that will be held in Thailand this November.
The youthful pageant queen reportedly has 3 children, a 24-year-old daughter and two sons aged 23 and 21 respectively. She is also a beloved grandmother to 4 adorable girls aged seven, five, three and one, as well as another two-month-old grandson.
According to The New Paper, the beauty queen says people are often dumbfounded when she reveals the number of grandchildren she has. Many have even asked her if those were her god-grandchildren instead. And from the looks of these pictures, we certainly understand why!
Everybody knows a hairdresser or salesperson who’s trying to get a good tip often asks if your mother is your sister but in this case, we don’t think they’re joking! Ms Lee tells the news site,
“Whenever I go partying or shopping with my kids, people always think I am their sibling.”
When asked about how she maintains her looks and figure, Ms Lee says she avoids eating carbs for dinner and takes beauty supplements daily. She keeps an active lifestyle by involving herself in activities such as netball, yoga, and salsa.
Nonetheless, this isn’t your average Cinderella story. The beauty queen worked hard to get to where she is now. After getting a divorce 13 years ago, Ms Lee was left to raise her children on her own despite being plagued by financial instability.
She started her business with a partner in 2009 and admitted that there were a lot of hardships faced. However, from the experience, she’s come out stronger, learning that nothing is impossible. What a true WonderWoman!
Now a managing director of Trade-Pro Trading and the director of five other frozen food companies, Ms Lee has proven that she’s no one-trick pony. In fact, the business bombshell is in line to receive a SME100 Awards Singapore award in October.
The pageant queen reveals that she couldn’t always show a lot of care and concern for her children in the past as she was too busy making ends meet. However, she’s thankful that she now has the means to make up for it with her grandchildren. She showers her little ones with love by bringing them for activities such as ballet and swimming lessons.
What an inspiring story! Ms Lee’s journey shows us that brains and beauty are truly things that come with age.
