It is absolutely heartbreaking to see animals in places they shouldn’t be in and sometimes these scenes spur something within us to take action.
This is exactly the case for Mr. Amran Mat Dali, a 40-year-old DBKL employee who was on vacation with his family in Port Dickson from 6th to 8th March.
According to Harian Metro, it was 10am and Mr. Amran was on his way to watch his children fish at Batu 7 when he heard a small cry for help. He figured that it was a small puppy that was trapped in the covered drain so he wanted to help free it.
As soon as he stepped on the drain cover, it broke and he fell into the 3-metre deep drain. He did not sustain any other injuries other than a severe knee injury.
Thankfully, his friend was with him at that time and a nearby fisherman came over to help call the bomba, police and ambulance.
Even though it was quite an intense situation, they never forgot their main goal which was to save the little puppy.
Mr. Amran however, was transferred to a hospital in Kuala Lumpur and had surgery on his knee the same day. In addition to that, he has also lodged a complaint to the PD municipal council. He says,
“If this is taken lightly then it is not impossible that cases like this will happen again. This is dangerous and will endanger the lives and safety of the public.
In response to this, the Malaysia Animal Association has paid Mr. Amran a little visit and presented him with a cake for his valiant actions!
Thank you for doing what you did Mr. Amran! We wish you a speedy recovery!
