About 40 cows and countless wild animals were found dead in an estate in Kulai Jaya, Johor.

On 8th September, the Malaysia Animal Association shared a post on Facebook detailing the incident.

In the post, they talked about how a plantation in Kulai Jaya, Johor has killed about 40 cows and countless wild animals by just mindlessly scattering rat poison on their estate as if there were no other animals there except mice.

The association has also called out the owner of the cattle who just let the cows roam free because this method of agriculture is outdated and not suitable for the world we live in nowadays. There are an abundance of cars nowadays, and simply allowing the cows to roam freely might put the cows and also the drivers in danger. Plus, livestock can create havoc in farms by ruining saplings and whatnot.

Netizens were outraged when they read about what had happened and decided to share their thoughts.

One of them said that the prey-predator technique has always been used in estates so that the number of pests can be reduced but in this case, it is sad to see the owl dying because it ate a rat that was poisoned, and this could have been avoided. Many innocent lives were lost because of this.

Another netizen said that the person who spread the rat poison was not very good at his job as they are supposed to be hidden in places that only mice have access to, not just strewn around everywhere in plain sight where other animals can find them.

We do agree on the comments by the netizens that estates should be more careful with their use of rat poison or maybe just ditch them and opt for the more natural methods like using owls. What do you think?
