A 34-year-old man was found unconscious inside a locked car with the engine still running in Penang on Wednesday (July 16).
According to Sinar Harian, the victim was discovered in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, which was parked behind a row of shops in Taman Ara Mutiara, Butterworth.

The victim was pronounced dead
According to John Sagun Francis, Assistant Director of the Fire and Rescue Operations Division of the Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), they received an emergency call at 8:50 PM, and a team from the Tasek Gelugor Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival at 9:03 PM, the team found the car doors locked with the victim unconscious inside. Firefighters then assisted the police in unlocking the car using special equipment,” he said.
The victim was later confirmed dead at the scene by personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The cause of death still remains unknown
John added that the operation was fully completed by 9:35 PM, and the case has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.
As of the time of writing (July 18), authorities have not yet released any official statement regarding the cause of death.
