Medical teams from across China and other parts of the world are sending supplies and staff to help out in Wuhan, where the majority of patients with the new coronavirus are located. These heroes at the frontline volunteer to help out, knowing that there’s a high risk that they may get the highly contagious infection.
For women, you know that your hair is your crowning glory and many of us take care of it so that it looks good. Yet, for the female nurses who are fighting the war against the virus in Wuhan, they didn’t think twice about cutting off their long, glorious hair to make it easier for them to do their work.
According to Sinchew, 31 nurses at the Western Hospital of Wuhan Union Medical College decided to sacrifice their long hair to make their fight against the Wuhan virus easier. The reason they did this is that research shows that short hair reduces the risk of contracting the virus and also lowers chances of sweating and breeding bacteria.
One head nurse said, “We cut off our hair so that it makes it easier for us to put on our protective gear and take care of our patients. We do not have time to bathe and wash our hair every day.” The hospital has been swinging into full gear the past few days, there are over 700 beds ready for the patients while nearly 1,000 medical staff are prepared to fight against the virus.
It is truly heartwarming to see these heroes giving their all in this epidemic. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
