Social media can be a real jungle out there, full of scams, harassments, and all kinds of crazy stuff. It can get a little intimidating and overwhelming at times. And because of that, many women nowadays are confronting their greatest fears online.

Sophia (pseudonym) reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ to shed light on an incident that occurred between her and a random stranger on Snapchat.

Sophia, who is 24 years old, disclosed that the picture provided above is the one he shared with her and other girls. However, she mentioned that she’s unsure whether it’s actually him or if he’s pretending to be the person in the picture.

She also mentioned that the random stranger presents himself as a 24-year-old residing in Subang Jaya.

Sophia explained how she posted her pictures on her Snapchat story for everyone to see. That was when the random man started taking screenshots of her photos, prompting her to receive notifications about it.

Upon receiving the notifications, she decided to confront the stranger and inquire why he was taking screenshots of her pictures.

The unknown man brushed off her question and even asked if she was single or in a relationship. Sophia replied that it was none of his business. However, things took a concerning turn when the man persisted in asking about her relationship status.

Sophia mentioned she was engaged, and that’s when the man started to make threats. He warned that if she didn’t do as he said, he would misuse all her pictures.

“I told him to stop threatening me, as I had already shown the messages to my family and they were on their way to the police station. After that, he promptly blocked me.”

Sophia explained how scared she felt, especially with all the stories of online threats and harassment targeting women. Knowing that the man still had her pictures made her extremely uneasy.

She then confessed to regretting posting her pictures for everyone to see, stressing that no other woman should experience something similar.

Both men and women can experience online violence and abuse, but women are much more likely to endure repeated and severe forms of harm through social media.

A gentle reminder to everyone to be cautious about what you post online and act promptly if you encounter situations like this.
