This 24yo from Johor Just Beat 91 Other People in China to Become Mandopop Idol!

One of our Malaysian peeps has made us proud once again! It looks like Malaysia has created another oppa! 24-year-old You Zhang Jing joined China’s boy group survival reality show Idol Producer 2018 and emerged as one of its winners recently, All Kpop reported. He beat 91 other people!

The reality show brings together 100 trainees from 31 different entertainment companies and talent agencies from China and other parts of the world. Over the period of four months, contestants would have training sessions and selected ones would emerge as a boy group of nine people.

While they are styled like K-pop idols, they do sing Mandarin songs during the reality show and will debut as a Mandopop band. The contestants are coached by some big names in the Chinese and Korean industry, namely Korean band EXO band member Lay, GOT-7 band member Jackson, PRISTIN band member Kyulkyung, COSMIC GIRLS band member Cheng Xiao, China singer Li Rong-hao and Asian-American Rapper MC Jin.

Just last night (April 6), You Zhang Jing was announced as one of the official band members of Nine Percent along with eight other contestants who all made the cut. #MalaysiaRepresent The other members who made up the band include August Cai, Adam Fan, Justin, Evan Lin, Zhu Zheng-ting, Wang Ziyi, and Wang Lin-kai.

1. His birthday is on 19 September 19 1994
2. His hobbies are singing, watching movies, cooking and eating
3. He is also known as Azora Chin
4. On Idol Producer, You is known as Trainee 18 as well
5. He was born in Batu Pahat, Johor
6. He used to study in Chinese High School in Batu Pahat
7. He was a student in Nanjing University of Arts before joining Idol Producer

But don’t let his cute looks fool you. You Zhang Jing has been a firm favourite throughout the show and is often praised for his powerful vocals too. Many fans said that he is the best main vocal singer in the competition! He’s got talent!

Emotions ran high during the season finale and You got emotional when his name was announced as the last member of Nine Percent, completing the boy band which will hopefully come out with their first album soon.
