A 21-year-old woman was arrested after a video of her doing ‘wheelies’ on her motorcycle went viral on social media. A 16-year-old boy, who was seen doing the stunts with her, was arrested as well.
According to Astro Awani, the incident happened at 4.45pm on 10 May at Jalan Dato ‘Syed Esa. Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said the duo was detained at their respective homes in Jalan Pantai.
“The arrest was made after the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters (IPD) was made aware of a video displaying the action on social media at 2.30pm yesterday (Friday),” he said.
He added that the woman and the boy were later released on bail and that the case is being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 2020).
Upon conviction, the accused can be jailed for up to five years and fined between RM5,000 to RM15,000. They can also be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for five years.
Ismail Dollah then advised road users not to behave in ways that could endanger their own lives or the lives of others and added that parents should also monitor their children.
