You can call yourself a hardcore Taylor Swift fan all you want but we bet you can’t beat this Swifty from Pakistan, who can tell you he loves Taylor Swift, without telling you he loves Taylor Swift!
20-year-old Bilal Ilyas Jhandir made it to the Guinness World Records for one skill that not all of you swifties can do – naming 34 of her songs from the respective lyrics in just 1 minute. The record was previously held by UK radio host, Dan Simpson who managed to name 27 songs of Taylor Swift back in 2019.
According to the official website of the Guinness World Records, Bilal has been listening to Taylor Swift when he was 13, saying,
“I have listened to each and every songs of her. I can recognise almost all of her songs.”
Bilal proved that when he successfully completed the challenging task by guessing the lyrics which were read out without background music with his eyes covered.
Training by listening
As much as Bilal loves Taylor Swift, he still needed to train himself before he held the title. For 13 weeks, he trained himself by listening to the pop star’s songs extensively to memorise the lyrics and the names of the songs.
To “enhance” his training experience, Bilal even recited the lyrics on his bed before he fell asleep.
Thanks to his extensive training, Bilal found the challenge to be easy, and the only difficulty he had was how the lyrics were spoken by a man, instead of Taylor Swift herself.
There is a reason why Bilal is so into Taylor Swift, and it has something to do with her songwriting.
“Her way of writing her out-of-this-world songs, it just hits the bottom of my heart.”
Bilal, who is majoring in Computer Science said it’s an “incredible feeling” to be a “certified Swiftie”.
To all Swifties out there, can you name her songs by listening to the spoken lyrics without any background music?
