19 People Arrested in Johor for Vicious Assault at Eatery Using Parangs & Rotans

A group of 19 individuals were arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for rioting and using weapons to inflict harm at a restaurant in Skudai, Johor.

According to a press release by the Iskandar Puteri District Police Department, this incident happened on Saturday (May 17) at about 12:40am.

A local woman, who filed a police report in regards to the incident, explained that she and 3 male friends were at the restaurant when a group of men appeared and attacked them with parangs and rotans.

Following the police report, the authorities arrested 19 local men, aged 13 to 46 years old, in relation to the attack and found that 6 of them have past criminal records. Urine tests show all suspects were negative for drugs.

The attack is believed to have been carried out due to a grudge.

All suspects will be remanded for 7 days, until Saturday (May 24), to assist in investigations under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 326 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury by using a weapon.
