A spa and beauty salon owner was left with an arm injury after she was splashed with a liquid believed to be acid by 3 individuals, including 2 women, while on the top floor of her business premises in Beris Kubur Besar, Kelantan, on Saturday (May 17) at about 8:30pm.

According to a report by Kosmo, the victim, who was wearing a telekung after performing Maghrib prayers, was inside her shop with a child at the time of the incident.

A trader in the same area, 20-year-old Izati Aziz, had become aware of the incident after hearing the victim scream for help several times and yelling for someone to call the police.

“I rushed out and found the victim still wearing a prayer shawl and screaming for help while leading her child by the hand,” she said.

An appointment to assault

It turns out that one of the suspects had made an appointment with the victim’s spa and beauty salon for a massage, posing as a customer at the premises, when the incident happened.

Bachok District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin, said initial investigations found that the spa owner had accepted an appointment with someone to get a massage at her shop. When she opened the door of her shop for the ‘customer’, the suspect splashed what is believed to be acid at the victim before fleeing.

“The investigation and inspection by the Forensic Department of the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters found 4 fingerprints at the scene of the incident. The container used by the suspect to splash the liquid was also found at the premises,” he said.

The victim is currently still receiving treatment, and further investigations to track down the suspects are underway.

This case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
