Some women believe that beauty is pain, and that there is nothing they wouldn’t try at least once to fulfill their own perceptions of beauty. For some women, this may mean elective surgery. But as with all medical procedures, there are definite risks involved. The question is, are you willing to take them?
For a woman in China, she found that it may not be worth the pain the hard way when an elective beauty procedure she signed up for went horribly, horribly wrong.
As reported by China Press, 19-year-old Chen thought it would be a good idea to undergo a “liquid nose job” after purchasing a ‘beauty card’ from Emay Family, a beauty parlor in Chongqing. She only had to shell out 980 Yuan (RM577) for a typically 19,560 Yuan (RM11,514) procedure. That’s a hefty discount!
The procedure involves injecting liquid hyaluronic acid into the nose to achieve the desired shape and silhouette. This is typically a popular noninvasive option to rhinoplasty, and she had hoped she would be able to look more beautiful with it done.
As she was waiting on the procedure to be completed, Chen said:
“I couldn’t see what they were doing on my face. It was only after they injected my nose that I opened my eyes and realised I couldn’t see out of one eye.”
She added that her whole body felt weak and she felt almost paralysed. Chen was rushed to hospital immediately. Upon inspection, doctors have diagnosed Chen with arterial thrombosis, or a blockage of the blood vessel, which has stopped blood flow to her eye!
Apparently, during the procedure, the hyaluronic acid that was meant to act as a filler for her nose had entered her ophthalamic artery and caused it to become blocked. This resulted in her going blind in one eye, and the damage may be irreversible.
At this point in time, it remains unclear as to whether the beauty parlor that offered the procedure was licensed to carry it out.
Let this be a reminder to everyone that you should always think long and hard before committing yourself to procedures like this! Love yourself for who you are.
