A Vietnamese female driver in Penang was suspected of hitting two pedestrians before fleeing the scene, resulting in one death and one injury.
The deceased is an 18-year-old student and the Vietnamese woman was detained by PDRM not long after the incident which took place at 10 PM yesterday (February 19). The driver was said to have hit the pedestrians while trying to flee the scene.

The student died on the spot due to severe injuries and the other victim was sent to the hospital for treatment. The body of the deceased was sent to the Penang General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
In another report by China Press today (February 20), PDRM said it was a drunk driving case after conducting an alcohol test on the driver, and the deceased student was walking home with his two other friends when the accident happened.

He was walking by the roadside with two friends when a Honda sedan driven by the Vietnamese woman came from behind at high speed and hit two of them. The major injury on the student’s head caused his death.

“He was waiting for his SPM results”
The deceased student’s father said that his son had finished his SPM examination last year and was waiting for his results before his death.
“My deceased son is the youngest in the family. He had a brother and a sister.”
As per Oriental Daily, PDRM said the driver was not injured and the case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987. She has been detained to assist in the investigation.
