An 18-year-old Malaysian suffered multiple injuries, including a broken leg and hand after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) patrol SUV of all vehicles in Gerik, Perak.
As reported by Sinar Harian, the accident happened at the traffic light at Kilometre 4 of the Gerik-Jeli Highway in Bandariang in Gerik.
According to Gerik District Police Chief Superintendent Zulkifli Mahmood, the incident took place at around 4.10am and involved two Yamaha Y15 motorcycles and a Proton X70 SUV belonging to PDRM.
The PDRM patrol SUV was stopping at the red light of the traffic light junction when suddenly the vehicle was hit by one of the motorcycles from behind.
The police personnel inside the vehicle suffered no injuries, but the 18-year-old motorcyclist suffered a broken leg and hand, as well as wounds on his head.
Meanwhile, another motorcyclist, a 17-year-old Malaysian, managed to avoid the PDRM SUV but ended up crashing to the left side of the road. He suffered minor wounds on both his arms as a result of the crash.
Initial investigation revealed that both motorcyclists were riding at high speed before losing control. The case is currently being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
