We can’t believe a tragedy like this happened.

Chai Yenn Ling, a 17-year-old girl from Kuching, Sarawak, celebrated her birthday with her sister and group of friends on 25 October. But the joyful occasion took a sorrowful tone right after.

One of Yenn Ling’s friends was met with a road accident when his motorcycle flipped after the party, which caused him to fracture his arm. He was then sent to the hospital to treat his injuries.

In the photo, Yenn Ling (in white t-shirt) could be seen assisting her injured friend get off the ambulance. The group of friends who just met up several hours ago revisited him at the hospital at 3 am.

It was until 7 am of the following morning that Yenn Ling decided to head home, so she rode on her 20-year-old friend’s motorcycle. Sadly, their bike collided with an oncoming car, causing her to lose her life. The friend who gave her the ride suffered from a severe concussion.

Reports stated that the car driver was a 71-year-old man who, while uninjured, is recovering from the shock. The reason for the collision was not reported.

This horrible tragedy must have been a traumatising event for everyone involved. Who knew such disasters could’ve happened after a simple birthday celebration? We hope that the deceased can rest in peace, and we send our deepest condolences to her friends and family.
