After a gas pipeline exploded in Putra Heights on the second day of Raya (April 1), the extreme heat forced some residents to jump into the nearby river to escape the flames which resulted in some children and their family members struggling to stay afloat in the water.
In a remarkable display of bravery and selflessness, five Pakistani men who were nearby helped in the rescue mission despite the dangers posed by the fire and the river.
Their heroic actions did not go unnoticed and went viral all over social media.
In response to their bravery, Malaysia’s Fire and Rescue Department, have recognised their courage and awarded them Good Samaritan Awards for their outstanding efforts in saving lives during the emergency.
The awards were presented in a ceremony yesterday (April 18), with each of the Pakistani men going on stage to collect their awards.
Netizens also showered the rescuers with praise on social media, commending their bravery and selflessness.
