As of 18 October, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) had recorded statements from 127 witnesses in the fatal stabbing incident at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 4. The 14-year-old suspect, who is currently in police custody, has also had his statement recorded.
However, the police are still awaiting the pathology report to confirm the number of stab wounds on the victim’s body.

Earlier, the victim’s mother revealed during a press conference that her late daughter, Yap Shing Xuen, had sustained 200 stab wounds.
Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat, Petaling Jaya Police Chief, stated that while such reports typically take about a month to complete, he assured that it would not take longer than three months, Berita Harian reported.

In the shocking incident that occurred on Tuesday (14 October), PDRM also confirmed that the 14-year-old suspect repeatedly stabbed the victim with two knives, which he had purchased online.
The fatal attack took place inside a toilet cubicle, after the suspect climbed over the top of the stall to reach Shing Xuen.
The suspect was subdued by teachers, including his brother, before police arrived at the scene.
Both the police and Shing Xuen’s parents have denied claims that the suspect had confessed romantic feelings to the victim, stating that she had never personally known him prior to the attack.
