In a shocking video that circulating Malaysian social media, a 13-year-old boy tried to stab a Grab driver before running away when he realised his actions. The boy has since been arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Thankfully, the driver wasn’t hurt as the boy only managed to stab the man’s seatbelt.
Netizen, Pentadbir, took to the Penduduk Sungai Petani Kedah Facebook group to share the interior dashboard camera footage of the incident.
In the video, the Grab driver could be seen scolding the boy for apparently making him drive around with no clear directions.
“I am someone who is using a car to earn money, not to help you go in circles. I am not your father,” the driver told the boy.
Upon reaching their destination, the driver pulled out some money from his pocket while the boy pulled out a knife and tried to stab the driver in the chest. Thankfully, the knife stabbed the driver’s seatbelt instead, leading to the driver grabbing the knife and biting the boy’s hand when he refused to let go.
Seeing that he was not winning the fight, the boy finally let go of the knife and fled from the car, leaving the knife behind.
According to a report by Berita Harian, this all started when the boy had asked the driver to lend him RM50 to pay rent for his house and also told him that he didn’t have money to pay for the journey to his destination.
“However, the driver said that if there was no money, he had to drop the boy off at their current location, but the teenager refused and asked him to take him back to his house in Bandar Sri Astana to collect money to pay the fare,” shared Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Zaidy Che Hassan.
Upon reaching his house, the teenager then told the driver to take him back to Taman Keladi and the driver received a payment of RM18.
The boy also then directed the driver through some small alleys, which led the driver to once again opt to drop off the passenger and ask for an additional payment of RM9, in which the boy gave him RM20.
He allegedly stabbed the driver because he felt insulted by the driver’s words and wanted to take back the money he had paid.
