Let’s be real. If our teacher told us to make a dish for our festive celebrations and send her a picture as holiday homework, we’d probably just take a picture of whatever our mum cooked.
But not this elementary school boy from Zhejiang, China.
Based on a report by Oriental Daily, 13-year-old Huang Yuteng is taking the internet by storm after he made 20 dishes for his family’s New Years Eve dinner, when his teacher told him to make 1.
In a picture shared by his mother, 28 delicious dishes could be seen on a table, with the boy single-handedly making 20 of them.
It turns out that the Huang’s mother runs an eatery and he has picked up cooking from her by cooking with her during the school holidays.
No wonder she felt confident in allowing her son to cook dinner for their family!
“I know how to cook, so my mother doesn’t have to work so hard,” the boy said.
Despite Huang’s experience with cooking with his mother, his mother received backlash from their family members for allowing Huang to cook on his own.
But upon seeing how calm he was with stir-frying and steaming, and tasting how delicious his food was, they become proud of him.
We’re not going to lie, the food looks amazing. And who knows, Huang may take over his mother’s eatery one day and grow to become the Michelin star chef he is so clearly meant to be!
And we can’t even cook rice right.
