Talk about gangsterism in school!

Just yesterday, a 13-year-old student’s fingers suffered bone fractures after being struck by her teacher using a broom! This shocking incident took place at a secondary school in Johor at approximately 5pm.

According to Sinchew, the victim is a female student who sat just beside the rear door of the classroom. After the usual greeting, the female teacher in her 40s walked to the classroom next door and grabbed a broom before she proceeded to hit the student with it. What the…

The student’s 37-year-old mother who is known as Lee, claimed that her daughter failed to avoid the teacher in time and her left hand was struck by the broom.

“At about 7pm, my husband and I arrived at the school after receiving a call. I saw that my daughter’s left hand was already wrapped, hence I thought she got into a fight. Then a teacher told me that my daughter was beaten by another teacher who was ‘problematic’. She even recommended me to go to the hospital and police station,” Lee said.

After lodging a police report at the Skudai police station, the girl was brought to a hospital where the doctor told Lee that her daughter’s index, middle and ring fingers suffered bone fractures. Can you imagine the force applied by the teacher to have caused such injuries?

The next day, Lee went to the Ministry of Education to make a complaint. The officer recognised the teacher’s name at first glance and said that the teacher had bad records. It was understood that she was transferred to this school six months ago. I wonder what happened at the previous school.

In a meeting with the school authority, the headmaster personally reckoned that the teacher is not fit for duty anymore.

“Many have told me that this teacher has past records of hitting students with books, and using a broom to hit students’ legs,” Lee said.

The mother admitted that her daughter could be naughty and hyperactive at times; she even played truant once or twice before, but things have improved since she transitioned to secondary school.

It was reported that both the school and parents have come to an understanding and had put a rest to the incident. The girl has also resumed schooling although it was tough for her to put on her uniform and tie her hair.

Something needs to be done to that emotionally-unstable teacher, otherwise more innocent students will be injured in the future.
