We cannot stress how important education is. It’s not just a “license” for your future job hunt but also a tool to gain knowledge. Unfortunately, not everyone has the luxury to race their learning process till the finish point, and some may find it tough to go to classes despite having access to education.
Just recently, a Malaysian teacher, Cikgu Fadli Salleh shared a heartbreaking incident in his Facebook post and revealed that 1 of the students from his school, Iman has been constantly skipping classes. In what many may think is another case of truancy, Iman has her own reasons and she isn’t happy with the decision herself.
Bedridden mother, busy family
Iman is only 12, and she’s currently in Standard 6. She has no choice but to skip classes when necessary to care for her bedridden mother who suffers from stroke. Cikgu Fadli immediately visited Iman at her house with some essentials after he was informed of her condition.
“I brought along diapers and food. Someone else also gave her a bicycle.”
Iman is not the only child at home. She has an elder brother and a sister, who are doing their part to ease the family’s burden by working at a nearby mall in KL. A government organisation, Baitulmal MAIWP is generous enough to help the family on a monthly basis by giving them RM500. The amount does help but with a bedridden elderly and the need to buy groceries and essentials, RM500 has been proven tough to live by.
Cikgu Fadli expressed his hope to see the organisation contributing a little bit more to aid the poor family.
“I really hope someone from Baitumal comes over and visits the family, and re-evaluate the amount of monthly donation.”
“Let’s help Iman”
As for Cikgu Fadli himself, he’s helping by raising funds to help Iman, as well as the less fortunate. If you’re keen to help, you can refer to his Facebook post for the banking details.
“The amount doesn’t matter. We appreciate even if it’s only RM1, and it’ll help in all charity programmes that we have been doing.”
Cikgu Fadli told WORLD OF BUZZ that he took the opportunity to give Iman a friendly reminder – don’t put an end to her study.
“Anything she needs to go to school – clothes, fees, tuition, we’ll help until the end of her study,” Cikgu Fadli said.
As of now, Cikgu Fadli also said that Iman has returned to school as her 17-year-old sister has resigned from her part-time job to take care of her mother.
Iman is young but she is definitely stronger than many youths out there for how much she has on her plate, and how she has to soldier through her tough life. We wish nothing but the best for Iman and her family.
