If there’s one thing millennials enjoy doing during their free time, it’s meeting up with friends at hipster, Instagram-worthy cafes and having a nice hot cuppa. Lately, some of the more sought after venues have one thing in common: neon lights!

1. Merchant’s Lane @ Petaling Street

This former Petaling Street brothel transformed itself into a unique, homey, ’90s-style cafe complete with potted plants, porcelain cutlery holders and rattan chairs. Definitely the place to go to get away from the busy streets of Petaling Street!

One of the best kept open secrets in Bangsar, the interior of Bakar by the Big Group is spartan and minimalistic with the phrase “burn baby burn” immortalised in bright white neon lights to give the place a dramatic flair.

Located upstairs, this cafe combines both Asian and western flavours into their dishes and some good examples include the croissant bulgogi chicken with melted cheese and iceberg lettuce, as well as the croissant nasi lemak rendang chicken with sambal ikan bilis.
