Other than nasi lemak, many Malaysians love to eat chicken rice as there is rice, chicken and cucumber all on one plate.
Recently, a video of a chicken rice seller has gone viral on Facebook with more than 800,000 views and 6,000 shares.
In the video, we see a chicken rice seller at his workstation. There, he was chopping up some chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.
However, what caught the netizen’s eyes was how he took out the skin on the chicken breast and divided it into 3 portions. He also sliced the chicken breast into 3 portions, effectively making 3 separate packs of chicken rice.
With his fast moves and knife skills, the person managed to make 8 packs of chicken rice in less than a minute!
The netizen who posted the video said in the captions: “no wonder every time I eat chicken rice I feel like the chicken is very little.”
Some netizens agree with the person who posted the video.
“This should be shredded chicken rice, not chicken rice.”
“It used to be divide to 2 portions, now it’s 3 portions.”
“It’s very profitable you see” to which another person replies, “you must have the skill.”
“That’s why you have to order drumstick when you eat chicken rice, they can’t give you less.”
Others think that the portion is not too bad.
“You can buy the whole chicken and eat it at home slowly. Now, many places in Malaysia are like this already. If you don’t like it then you can go home and eat Maggie.”
“Chicken thigh= 2 portions, chicken back= 2 portions, chicken wings= 2 portions, chicken breast= 6 portions. Rice, chilli, rent and wages, there are only 12 portions in a chicken, so it’s not that profitable.”
“I think that there’s no problem. The weight of a chicken used for chicken rice is 1.8 to 1.9kg. With his cutting method, he can only get 12 portions from a whole chicken, which is fair.”
Those cutting skills are definitely very impressive, but which side of this debate are you on? Let us know in the comments!
