According to Seehua, a 24-year-old man named Zhang in Sichuan, China gained more than 10kg as he did not have time to go to the gym due to his busy work schedule. He struck on the brilliant idea to have a bet with his friend where they would compete to build six-pack abs in two months or the loser would have to treat the winner to half a month of buffet meals. Eh, then will the winner lose his abs due to the buffet overload?
His friend agreed and Zhang started on a rigorous workout routine to build muscles and get those envious abs. #roadtofitness
Zhang would go to the gym for two hours every day but just after the first four days, he was shocked to find that his urine had changed colour into a dark brown hue. That’s not a good sign!

It got so bad that he could not even urinate. Terrified, he quickly went to the doctor for a check-up and the doctor discovered that the level of creatine kinase (a byproduct of muscle breakdown) in his blood was more than 100 times than a normal person. Zhang was diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis as a result of excessive exercising. OMG, what!
The doctor explained to him that Rhabdomyolysis is caused by muscle injury, which can lead to serious complications such as kidney failure as it cannot remove waste from the urine. WebMD also states that extreme muscle strain can cause Rhabdomyolysis to occur especially among untrained athletes.

Luckily, Zhang was saved by prompt dialysis treatment by the doctor and his condition is now stable. He says, “I shouldn’t have been so anxious to workout because now I have injured myself.” The doctor advised him to increase the intensity of his workouts gradually to ensure that the syndrome would not return.Â
Exercising is good for the body, but make sure you don’t overdo it! Moderation is key guys! Also, always check with a trained doctor if you experience any health issues.
