In the past decade, Fahmi Reza has always been in the spotlight whenever it comes to political caricatures (that makes him visit the police station often).
These days, he is still very active on Twitter but rather than sharing his drawings, he is more committed to democracy class or ‘Kelas Demokrasi’.
During these classes, he educates Malaysians on how our government works and everything else.
As it is now the elections season, Fahmi is actively going around Malaysia for Kelas Demokrasi. However, there are people out there who are questioning his qualifications to hold the class as he is a cartoonist/graphic designer.
In a tweet, he answered:
“I am a Malaysian who understands how the democratic system in Malaysia works and I am capable of sharing knowledge in an easy to understand way to young voters. That’s all.”
We certainly agree with Fahmi and it seems that Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh agrees as well. She quoted his tweet and added that he is talented.
“And you have the gift of clear communication, simplifying complicated stuff into one picture. You are the living proof that a picture is worth a thousand words and it speaks louder than words
@kuasasiswa.”
It is definitely very important for young voters to understand how democracy in Malaysia works and we’re very thankful that Fahmi Reza is doing his best to make this knowledge accessible to all.
