There are two types of people in this world, people who love coriander and people who hate coriander, there’s no in-between.
Coriander has always been around but it seems like it is creeping into our daily food items including boba and now even mooncakes!
This coriander mooncake is made in a Hong Kong bakery in collaboration with Taiwanese brand, Mr Coriander. It has been said by Smart Holiday that the coriander mooncake is made up of three different kinds of corianders (fresh coriander, dried coriander and coriander powder).
The crust and fillings are both made up of coriander and it tastes slightly sweet. The crust has a resemblance to flaky, butter cookies and there are bits of dried coriander in the filling.
For the optimal taste, they suggest to heat the mooncake up in the oven for about 10-12 minutes and to let it cool before serving.
A box of four coriander mooncakes are HKD228 (RM125) which means that one of those cakes costs around RM31.25! Whew! That’s really expensive!
Which food item do you think will be ‘coriander’-ised soon? Also, will you want to try this mooncake? Let us know in the comments!
